On August 26, 2024, the Acting Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Republic of Kazakhstan issued Order No. 331, approving new intersectoral time standards for the translation of documents between Russian and Kazakh. The order will take effect from January 1, 2025.
These norms are designed for use in government agencies to standardize the workload of translators. They apply to both full written translations and editing of translations. The time standards are based on detailed analysis, including legislative documents, work studies, and established translation practices.
The norms cover the complete translation of legal acts and various official documents, taking into account working translations that ensure accurate and stylistically correct versions. The translation volume is measured in standard printed pages, where one page consists of 2000 characters. The guidelines classify translation complexity into three groups, ranging from general texts to specialized fields requiring additional research and consultation with experts.
